Kathrikai Kaara Chutney / Spicy Brinjal Chutney

Being a South Indian, Idly and Dosa happens to be my favourite food all time. I cant even imagine a world without these food items. Even though we have a huge array of accompaniments for these I prefer Spicy Chutneys or Kara Chutney always. This is one variation of the Spicy Chutney with Brinjal. Brinjal imparts a unique texture and taste to this chutney and it goes great with Idly, Dosa, Oothapam. I love this anytime with Hot Steaming Idlies.

Mochai Thengaipaal Kuzhambu / Field Beans Coconut Milk Gravy

Mochai or Field Beans is one of the tasty legumes and it has loaded nutritional benefits which many of us are not aware. It has a unique flavour and add a great taste to any recipe cooked with that. It is rich in soluble fibre and hence very good for diabetic persons. It is also a rich source of Iron and aids in healthy hair growth. It is also a store house of important minerals like manganese, calcium and magnesium which is essential for good bone development. Being a rich source of potassium it aids in digestion as well.

Even though we can make a lot of recipes with this tasty legume, this flavorful gravy is my favorite as it has the unique blend of coconut milk and spices. I never miss doing this recipe during the season of Field Beans every year.

Amla / Nellikaai Soup

Amla or Indian Gooseberry is one miracle fruit which is loaded with health benefits. It is known for it high Vitamin C content and is an excellent antioxidant. It not only act as a body coolant but also promotes healthy hair growth hence used in Hair Oils widely. It flushes out the toxins, eliminates free radicals and enhances fertility. It improves the muscle tone and promotes healthy skin.

This is one most neglected fruit as far as our diet is concerned but including this everyday into our meals will help us to harness the potential benefits of this fruit. Instead of taking it as a Juice here I have come up with a variation  of Soup with Amla which tasted too good and it became a routine of our Breakie once in a week for a refreshing day.

Amla with Moong Dhall is a healthy combo and it tastes great with a unique flavour.
