Tapioca Sweet and Savory Pancakes / Maravalli Kizhangu Inipu Adai, Kara Adai

This is my Mom's Signature recipe and my family's ever favorite which I had mentioned in my earlier post on my version of this delicacy here Golden Delights - Tapioca Sweet Paniyaram. This time I am sharing the original recipe from my Mom, both the Sweet and Savory Versions. This recipe is a must to have on Karthigai Deepam neivedhyam at my Mom's Place and I do follow that every year. A must to try recipe during Tapioca Season.

Here you go for the recipe directly, as I have mentioned about the nutritive aspects of Tapioca/Maravalli Kizhangu/ Kuchi Kizhangu / Kappa in my earlier post.

Baby Jackfruit Masala / Palakaai Masala

Palakaai Masala / Baby Jackfruit Masala is a Chettinaad special which I learnt from my mother. Even she does a flavourful Kuzhambu with this. Baby Jackfruit resembles Mutton Pieces in texture and it is called as the Vegetarian's Meat by my Mom :) Happy to share another recipe of her in my space.

Here is the recipe:

Seepu Muruku / Surul Muruku/ Seepu Seedai

This year's Diwali preparations started with this delicious Seepu Muruku or Surul Muruku. I would say this is a heirloom recipe for me and this one has always bring back my childhood memories, where we as kids (along with my three brothers) have it inserted in all 10 fingers and relish them and the mild sweetness in this Muruku makes it very tasty. It is called Seepu Muruku because in those days we had a Wooden Plank with ribs on it which is used to make this and it will give lines as in comb. Somehow, over years we missed that Plank (Achu). I have drawn a diagram of how it looks like, below. Without that Plank, I have made this plain here. We can also use some designer plates to get the impression of the design over the dough. I thank Mom for teaching me this recipe which I very much wanted to learn and master myself as I dont want this to be a forgotten one for the generations to come. She patiently posed for making of the Muruku as I was taking photograph of every step. Happy to have my family recipe for this Diwali.

Few Tips to Follow:

1. The dough needs to be a thick one to make the shape easily. If loose, we cant make the rolls. Much care need to be taken while adding coconut milk.

2. If sugar quantity is increased, the Muruku tends to turn dark brown on frying.

3. The rolls need to be dried before frying to get a crispier version.

Would love to hear your feedback :) Advance Wishes for a Happy Diwali :)

Citron Mango Ginger Pickle / Kadarangaai MaaInji Oorugaai

The season of Mango Ginger started and I never miss to make my favourite pickle out of this flavourful Curcuma Amada (Scientifically we call so). The unique falvour of raw mango is quite appetizing and no wonder it helps in relieving abdominal gas and promotes better digestion. It has lot of medicinal benefits. This combo that I am posting here is my Mom's Signature recipe where in she blends two beneficial items, Citron (Kadarangaai) and Mango Ginger (Maa Inji). This is for sure a tasty blend.

Here is the recipe..Thanks to my mom for patiently dictating each step.

Mixed Veggies Kuruma Kuzhambu

This is one recipe which is my Mom's signature recipe I would say and for the flavor and aroma that will appetize everyone at home whenever she makes this...The best part is we get the nutritive value of all the veggies in a more tastier way..Goes well with hot rice and even Idly, Dosa, Chapathi and Pooris. And its the best recipe to make when you have one or two of all veggies where we always end up in Avial,Kootu or even Kadhamba Sambar.

Thanks to Mom for such a great recipe which is most liked by all at home..

Try it and you will sure enjoy it :) I personally love this as side dish for creamy curd rice :)
